About me

Czech interpreter in BritainLet me introduce myself. My name is Renata Korpak-Langdon. I was born in the region of Silesia, on the Czech-Polish-Slovak border in what used to be Czechoslovakia – a real cauldron of nations with a varied history and a very interesting local identity.

If you grow up in such an environment, speaking not just one but more languages fluently becomes part of your life. I spoke Polish at home and at school, Czech in the street and at school and everywhere else, including at university. My mother taught me German since I was 12 and it became my “third mother tongue” to such an extent that when I went to Germany, I was considered to be a native speaker. I learned to speak Slovak during the many summers I spent there, walking in the Slovak mountains.

I took up English when I was 14 and learning to know it really well took much longer. After all, I lived behind the Iron Curtain then... And then the Velvet Revolution broke out and I went to work translating, interpreting and researching for the BBC... and met my future husband. Now, English is my language of everyday use and I couldn’t live without it!

I studied English and German at the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, and graduated there with a PhD. Then I worked as a teacher, translator and freelance interpreter in Prague.

I have been working out of the UK since 1994 but have a flat in Prague and go back there several times a year. I also visit Poland at least once a year. I now have over 16 years´ experience of working as a linguist.

So trust me! With this expertise, I can help you get your message across in the best possible way...
